The Important Stuff

 

On August 25th, 2018, El Dorado Lake will again host the area's only all women's triathlon.  This all women's triathlon event will be a Sprint Distance triathlon starting in the Walnut River Beach area.  The 400 meter swim will follow a triangular course in the protected waters of Walnut River beach.  The 9.5 mile bike course will follow a circular route throughout the lake and outskirts of El Dorado.  The 3 mile run course will be throughout the lake property and along a paved bike trail.  Aid stations will be found at every mile along the run course.

 

When is the Race?   

Saturday, August 25th, 2018.

 

When does it start?   

Heats will begin at 7:30 am on the beach. All heats will go by age group and start in 5 minute intervals.

Registration Fees: 

Individuals:

  • $45 until February 16th

  • $50 until March 27th

  • $55 until June 6

  • $60 until August 2nd

  • $65 until August 23rd 

Relay Teams(2 or 3 members):

  • $35 until February 16th

  • $40 until March 27th

  • $45 until June 6

  • $50 until August 2nd

Are there any age restrictions?   

This event is open to all women ages 14 years and older. Competitors under the age of 18 must have parental or guardian consent.

 

What do I get for signing up?

All participants will receive a women's specific tri blend shirt

All finishers will receive a customized finisher's medal and tiara

Packet Pick-up:  

This event is a USA Triathlon (USAT) sanctioned event. Athletes are required to be present with a photo I.D. and annual USAT membership card (if you have one) at packet pick-up.  USAT does not allow others to pick-up packets on your behalf. Athletes will not be allowed to take race materials without a photo I.D.  If you are not a USAT member you will be required to purchase a one day pass during registration ($15 for adults, $13 for youth/17 and under).

 

2018 Packet Pick-Up locations:

 

  • Friday - Walnut River Brewing Company at 111 W. Locust Ave in El Dorado, KS from 5pm to 7pm

  • Saturday beginning at 5:30am @ Race Site 

 

Awards:  

There will be awards given for the top 3 female athletes overall, top 3 female athletes in each age group, and the top team in each division.(family and friends)

 

Age Groups:

 

15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75 & up.

 

Relay Teams:

Relay teams are a great way to get all your closest friends, co-workers and family members involved in a triathlon. The two team categories will be friends and family.

 

Lodging

 

Camping:  Camp sites are available throughout the park.  For more information, please visit the El Dorado Lake website.  

 

Hotels: Several hotels are located in El Dorado.  We suggest getting a room early because rooms will be limited.

 

Directions:

 

From Wichita:

Take I-35 North to exit 76 for US-77

Turn left at N. Main St. (South US-77)

Take first left onto Myers Rd.

Go 1.6 miles and turn right

Go 1.4 miles and turn right into Walnut River Campground (There will be an attendant at the gate)

Take first left for parking

 

From North:

Take I-35 South to exit 76 for US-77

Turn left at N. Main St. (South US-77)

Take first left onto Myers Rd.

Go 1.6 miles and turn right

Go 1.4 miles and turn right into Walnut River Campground (There will be an attendant at the gate)

Take first left for parking

 

 

 

From El Dorado:

Take Main St. (US-77) North to 12th St.

Turn Right at 12th

Go 2.1 miles to Boulder Bluff Rd. (just below dam) and turn left

Go 0.7 miles and turn left into Walnut River Campground (There will be an attendant at the gate)

Take first left for parking

 

Additional FAQS

  • All race entries are final. This is an outdoor race. There is always a chance that weather may force the race director to limit, adjust or cancel a event. State park officials are the ultimate decision makers. No refunds or transfers.
  • It is the responsibility of each athlete to know the race course and any potential hazards which may exist on it.
  • The bib number must be worn on the front of your body during the entire run portion of the event. You will be body marked on race morning before the swim.  The timing chip must be worn on your ankle.
  • The roads are open to traffic. Ride on the right hand side of the road unless instructed otherwise by a police officer or a race official. Please discourage your friends and family members from driving on the race course while the race is in progress.
  • Spectators will not be allowed into the transition areas. If you would like to hand your gear to a friend over the transition area fence before you begin the bike portion of the event you are welcome to do so.
